Passo Gobbera – Totoga Mount visiting the “Stoli”
Departure from the Hotel lobby in Trentino at 9.30 am with our guide who will accompany you by bus to Mezzano (650 m), for arriving to the first intersection to Imer. Turn right towards Passo Gobbera (985m), head to the Church on the Hill and turn right onto trail no. 345 Totoga Mount.
By continuing the walk through the military road slightly uphill, it goes into the woods rich of vegetation and comes into a mule track, then continues to the right where where it rapidly climbs up to the South Totoga Ridge. There we walk through the path that later turn right to the old military road, we arrive then at the San Giovanni Gualberto Forest Refuge (1570m) which is unattended, but there is local emergency always open.
From here you can reach directly the "Stoli", Italian artillery emplacement built on two floors in 1915.
The tunnels are in excellent conditions and are worth a visit (flashlight useful). You can see the beautiful landscapes of Vanoi Valley through the large windows. Leaving the Stoli towards the refuge, turn left into the woods (discreetly signaled) for about 35 minutes to the final destination on the top of Mount Totoga (1705m).
The landscape is spectacular and expands from Passo Brocon in the mountain range of the Pale di San Martino di Castrozza to the whole Vanoi Valley. The way back is retracing the same route. Once back at the Hotel in Trentino you can rest in our suite peacefully and, by booking a massage, relaxing completely.
