Most Beautiful Villages , has preserved its rustic charm. Mezzano is famous
for its permanent exhibit of woodpiles crafted into stunning artistic
displays. During summer, it hosts the Trentino Music Festival , attracting
over 100 young talents from the New York Music Academy.

the heart of the UNESCO Dolomites. Time seems to stand still in this serene
and picturesque place. Visit the T3 Tower , an observation point with a

trails, including the Mine Trail , which leads to historic gold mining
tunnels.

Trentino, this village is surrounded by a series of small hamlets that were
once independent municipalities. Positioned between the UNESCO Dolomites
and the Lagorai Range , also known as the "Tibet of Trentino," it is home
to the Vanoi Ecomuseum , which showcases the area's rich natural and
cultural heritage.

Primiero San Martino di Castrozza: The largest municipality in
Trentino includes five historic hamlets, which were independent
municipalities until 2015: Fiera di Primiero, Tonadico, Transacqua, Siror ,

Fiera di Primiero, established in the 1400s as a central market hub, this village remains the valley's commercial, administrative, and economic center. Its quaint streets are filled with shops, artisan workshops, and cozy pubs, offering everything you need in a compact space.
Tonadico, known as the "Gallery Village" for its abundance of frescoes adorning historic buildings. Located at the foot of Castel Pietra , it is the valley's oldest settlement. Highlights include Palazzo Scopoli , now a hub for local culinary and cultural experiences, and the charming Chapel of San Vittore .
Transacqua, dubbed the "Flower Village" , it offers panoramic views across the Canali Stream. Once a major mining hub of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it housed over 500 mining tunnels in the 15th century, where miners, known as Bergknappen , extracted silver, copper, and argentiferous lead.
Siror, famous for hosting the oldest Christmas Market in Trentino , Siror charms visitors with its Legends Trail , a series of wooden bas-reliefs depicting the valley's folklore.
San Martino di Castrozza, known as the "Jewel of the Dolomites" , this village sits at the base of the legendary Pale di San Martino. Its breathtaking scenery has made it one of the most awe-inspiring destinations in the Dolomites. In the early 1900s, it was a favored retreat for Europe's aristocracy.
Each village tells a unique story, offering visitors a perfect blend of
history, culture, and natural beauty.

The Castle Pietra
A jewel of our valley, Castel Pietra stands proudly at the entrance to Val Canali , overlooking the entire valley as a testament to our rich history. During the Habsburg era, when Primiero was under Tyrolean rule, the castle served as the residence of the Welsperg counts, the feudal lords of the region.
Legend suggests its origins may date back to the time of Attila, though more likely it was established under the authority of the bishops of Feltre. Castel Pietra has endured both moments of grandeur and times of devastation. It flourished as the Welsperg summer residence during the vibrant 15th century, only to be ravaged by fire and destruction at the hands of the Venetians.
Its trials did not end there. In the 19th century, a flood from the Canali stream caused partial collapse, adding another chapter of sorrow to its millennia-old saga. Yet, its story took a hopeful turn in the 1980s when restoration efforts, led by Count Georg Siegmund Thun-Hohenstein-Welsperg, brought the castle back to life.
Today, its evocative ruins awaken ancestral emotions, offering breathtaking views and a glimpse into its storied past. The castle's quadrangular layout conceals secrets and mysteries, with ancient halls and a small chapel dedicated to Saint Leonard , whispering of an era when the castle was vibrant with life and activity.
Prepare to embark on a journey through time, where the allure of history blends seamlessly with the majesty of architecture and the power of nature. An experience at Castel Pietra will leave you truly breathless.

Cross-Country Skiing Tracks - Nordic Skiing in Primiero San Martino di Castrozza
Practicing Nordic skiing (cross-country skiing) is a fantastic and alternative way to experience the nature of the Pale di San Martino.
You can take your time and enjoy the mountains in total peace of mind. Immerse yourself and enjoy unique, breathtaking views.
There are 5 cross-country ski tracks in the Primiero Valley, each in a different location:
-
Imer Track , 5 km from our hotel. Three different trails
suitable for everyone.

Passo Cereda Track , about 7 km from our hotel. It is
divided into several certified tracks, also used for national and
international competitions. The Italian National Cross-Country Ski
Championships have been held here in the past.

Calaita Lake Track , about 15 km from our hotel. A simple
trail winding through the Calaita Lake basin, offering stunning views of
the Pale di San Martino.

a short distance from the center of San Martino di Castrozza. The track
runs through the Pra delle Nasse biotope, with an unbeatable view of the
Pale.

kilometers immersed in the beauty of Passo Rolle, right next to the iconic
peaks of the Dolomites.

Shop Info - Opening hours
The Mirabello Hotel is located right at the beginning of the pedestrian zone in Fiera di Primiero, the historical, administrative, and commercial center of the entire valley.
Here you'll find most of the shops and local establishments in the valley. The center is small, with the charm of a typical mountain village, but it truly offers everything. From the most characteristic shops to boutiques featuring renowned brands. From the classic café to the typical pub serving local Trentino products. We can guide you to the places that best suit your preferences.
I also recommend exploring the small shops in the higher districts of the Primiero San Martino di Castrozza municipality. You'll find little treasures full of craftsmanship, local delicacies, and tradition. Ask us for advice, and we'll point you to these hidden gems. We know the best spots to recommend for a unique experience!
Opening hours:
Generally, from 8:00/8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 4:00 PM to 7:00/7:30 PM. During July and August, many places are also open in the evening.
The weekly day off is Thursday for most of these (except during peak season).
Pharmacy on Duty
There are four pharmacies in Primiero. The nearest one is the Farmacia Alla Madonna in Fiera di Primiero, just a 3-minute walk from the hotel.
Alternatively, I recommend considering the Farmacia Zonta in Mezzano (4 km from the hotel, it's best to go by car).
If you need, I always suggest checking which pharmacies are on duty.
Other pharmacies are located in San Martino di Castrozza and Canal San Bovo.

Before heading there, you can call the emergency number 800 016 017 (Trentino Emergency Operations Center); they will provide initial assistance and schedule an immediate appointment for you.
The medical guard is available during the following hours:
- Every day from 20:00 to 08:00
- Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 08:00 to 20:00

Churches in Primiero and Mass Times
In Primiero, there are several beautiful churches that I recommend you visit.
In the center of Fiera di Primiero, just a few steps from the hotel, you'll find the chapel of Madonna dell'Aiuto. While Mass is not held here, it is very lovely to visit. Continuing through the pedestrian center, at the end, take a small uphill path to reach the Parish Church. On the right, you'll find the Palazzo delle Miniere, and directly in front of you stands the impressive Archpriest Church dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta.
This is definitely one of the most important churches in the valley, both historically and architecturally. Many consider it one of the most beautiful in Trentino.
There are also many other places of worship scattered throughout the small villages of the valley. For example, in Tonadico, besides the church in the center of the village, there is the beautiful and panoramic Church of San Vittore. Or the Church of San Marco in Transacqua.
Many small, charming mountain churches are also found among the woods, pastures, and scenic locations; these tiny chapels form a path known as the ancient Primiero pilgrimage route "La Crosèra". Among these are the chapels of San Giovanni, San Silvestro, San Vittore, and the Chapel of San Valentino-all built in locations of exceptional natural and scenic beauty.
For Mass times, I recommend clicking here below.
